The author in "omnivores dilemma" talks about hybrid corn that it's a good thing and a bad thing. The authors claim about hybrid corn is that it's resistant to disease and can produce a lot of corn. On the other hand it's a bad thing because the "children" of the hybrid corn may not have the same traits as their parents. Which means the "children" corn may not have the disease resistant or surplus of corn trait. Also farmers would have to buy corn every year to make sure their corn has the right traits.
Dr. Naraidoo,
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting you focused on a more scientific aspect of hybrid corn when you talk about the traits of the corn. I think this connected to what you previously learned in science class (correct me if I'm wrong!). How do these traits affect us, the consumers, of this corn product? Thanks for sharing!
