Dr.DialloπŸ‘©πŸ’™πŸ₯πŸš‘:Fertilizer

What are farmers risking by using nitrogen rich soil to grow corn quickly?

Farmers are risking pollution and global warming to the environment and earth by using nitrogen rich soil to grow corn quickly. In the text it states,"Some of it evaporates into air, where it creates acid rain". This tells me that when "eighty pounds of man-made nitrogen that Naylor's corn plants doesn't take up" humans are in a whole sort of trouble. Lot of things on earth just might begin to extinct. Like plants won't be able to grow, animals won't be able to eat which will then decrease their population and humans won't be able to survive. We will all die out slowly. The text also states," Some of it turns into nitrous oxide, a gas that increased global warming. The fact that farmers are risking global warming is really scary because scientists doesn't know know about 99.999999... of the universe meaning that it would be hard for scientists to find a way to protect us from global warming and eventually  if they don't find a way, well we're all just dieing simple as that.

  1. Dr. Diallo,

I wanted to extend your thought when you stated, "it would be hard for scientists to find a way to protect us from global warming and eventually if they don't find a way, well we're all just dying simple as that." It is amazing to think that such a small act, growing corn, could have such a devastating impact on society. I wonder how much scientists advise farmers in growing their crops, if at all.

  2. I found that you included global warming interesting from your post because we learned about that in 7th grade and I know that it relates to it a lot.
The statement you said, "Like plants won't be able to grow, animals won't be able to eat which will then decrease their population and humans won't be able to survive. We will all die out slowly." connects with a similar idea I had because I also wrote that the fertilizers will negatively affect society and the things living in it.
I would like to extend on your thought when you said, "...humans are in a whole sort of trouble." because humans are the ones consuming all this unhealthy foods and they definitely be in a lot of trouble.
I would like to disagree with the following statement you made, "Lot of things on earth just might begin to extinct." because I don't think that a lot of things will go extinct necessarily, instead, go sick.
