Dr. Naraidoo : research

http://issworldhistory.forumotion.net/t1383-industrial-food-chain

The industrail food chain was made to put out large amounts of food for the globe. Big corporations are a huge part of the industrail food chain. It's also a big waste to the environment. After WW2 they had a leftover chemical to use in the fertilizer which went into the soil and is in an ecosystem which causes global warming and acid rain , etc.

Industrail food chain had been around for about 50 years making food cheaper and faster. It's highly processed and low in nutrition and its chemically grown.

Industrail food chain has the longest time the food takes to get from seed to the actual plate. It's mainly GMOs that are highly unnatural. Most of the foods come from corn and beans. It causes a slow environmental destruction.

This is about how humans should think about their health choices because they're the factors that either help the environment or harm the environment because they are the ones who are taking actions in their activity. Also this is about how if we limit on eating from "cheap food" eating healthy will eventually catch on.

http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/sustainable-food-chains-make-business-sense

This about customers who enjoys eating from the local sustainable food chain because it's healthy, natural tastes better and their true requirements to what food should taste like which satisfies them. This also about how the local sustainable food chain is growing with the help people are eating more and more from there.

Dr.Kone

I believe that Micheal Pollan did not influence my habits of eatin.even though some foods are made wrong it still caused me to grow and still be healthy since the I was born. Micheal Pollan was stating his own opininons and some facts on differet type of food chains and talks about how it affects humans. This is why Michael Pollan did not influence me to change my eating habits.

Dr.Cox Reflection

Since this is suppose to be based on my thoughts,Micheal Pollan did nothing and things most likely will never change. If people eat a certain food and most people like it,it's going to stay there until no one wants to even eat it anymore.I still eat my "fatty foods" but I also do enjoy my fruits vegetables and etc and I think as long as you balance it it's ok.  Pollan's arguments also weren't strong enough to make me agree. Sometimes hell make on sided statement and not even show graphs or anything and that makes a person second guess everything he says or anyone who does.

dr.gonzalez

Micheal Pollan did influence my eating habits by persuading me to think all of my food I eat is corn. The chemicals and fats used to make the industrial food chain cause obesity,"Seventeen percent of kids age six through nineteen are obese."(76) This can have several side affects and diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, and many other chronic diseases that is whats going on because of this many suffer but. The abuses the animals and employees under go especially in disgusting environments with stuffy air and manure every where

Dr.Dones reflection

I believe that Michael Pollan didn't influence my eating habits. This is because I've been eating the same type of food since I was born and I'm still healthy. Michael Pollan was just stating facts and his own opinion about the the different food industries and didn't really take other people's opinion. Also, those "unhealthy" foods that come from the factories are really good so, I'm not going to change my eating habits.

Dr . Arnaud : reflection .

I believe Michael pollan didn't really influence any part of my eating habits because I think he just made the book to inform only inform us , because he didn't really persuade me to believe all the things he would say about these factories , he just stated his opinion on most of the book , how do I know everything he said was actually real ? I continue to eat the same food he said we shouldn't so no , he didn't influence any part of my eating habits

Dr. Contreras: Reflection

Yes, it has. I can really say I hate this book. Since I first saw it and I read the summary on the back of the book I already jnew I wasnt goung to like it. I dont really want to knkw where my food came from. Well part of me does because like micheal pollan said it feels good to know how your vegatables are grown and how the chiken from your sandwhich was treated. But then there is the other part of me that hates this book because know everytime I buy something im looking at the ingredients to see if it contains corn or to see if its organic. In the past few days when I get home and eat I font really fell like eating meat. And if I do it it I dont get to eat the whole thing without thinking about how this chicken was rased and the hormones that it most likely got to make it grow faster and bigger. How it lived its entire life in a feedlot surrounded by its own manure and by 20,000 other chickens. Even though im not goung to stop wating the things I usually eat im at least goung to be aware of what im eating.

Dr.Naraidoo: Reflection

Micheal Pollan did influence my eating habits by persuading me to think all of my food I eat is corn. I usually eat food that's from the industrial food chain which is made from mostly corn. As shown in the book "corn is what feeds the steer that becomes your steak corn feeds the chicken and the pig corn feeds the catfish raised in a fish farm corn fed chickens laid the eggs corn feeds the dairy cows that produce the milk chesse and ice cream." This shows how corn is in a lot of food that I eat which persuaded me to think that corn is in all my food. Also shown in the book "read the label on any processed food and corn is what you'll find." This shows how corn is basically in a lot of foods

Dr.Gomez: Reflection

Pollan did not influence the way I eat because, even though some of the food is made in factories, I only care if the food is really good. Even though producing food from factories could be dangerous, I rarely see it happen and its always healthy. Maybe it's  because I'm mainly eating the farm side and not the factory and I probably don't even know it. But, no matter what, Pollan didn't really change my way of eating.

Dr.Lissade:Reflection

Michael Pollan did influence how I eat and my habits of eating because now I learn how many foods are so good for you but it's not really bad if you eat it once in awhile. Like for me , I'm skinny and I try to gain weight but in a healthy way. It may not be good for you but everyone's body is different.

Dr.Diallo๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘: Reflection

Did Michael Pollan influence any part of your eating habits/decisions? Why or why not?

Micheal Pollan did influence me about my eating habits/ decision by using sufficient factual evidence, including graphs and charts to persuade me and inform me about the type of food I eat and what makes it either good or bad. As stated in the text, " But what happens to the eighty pounds of man-made nitrogen that Naylor's corn plants don't take up? Some of it evaporates into the air, where it creates acid rain. Some of it turns into nitrous oxide, a gas that increased global warming. You may be thinking how does this connects to how Micheal pollan influenced me on my eating habits. It does,   the fact that during industrial food chain process, which is where I get my food from, chemicals are being sprayed to grow food even faster and because of these chemicals the earth is in danger. Why should I get my food from a place that sprays chemical on it, which can harm me and the people around me. It makes no sense. The author also includes a chart that portrays differences of children weight from 1976-2006 based on the effect of industrial food chain. It is crazy how the percentage of obese children ages 6-19 increases throughout the years. Not all food chains are bad. For example the local sustainable food chain is the healthy way of eating. It is organic and produced naturally and takes a short time to get you. It help protect you from diseases with all the nutrion it contains. I will now think twice about what I want to eat. I will also make wise healthy choices to keep myself in good condition. I will also try to  inform others and persuade others about their food choices and what actions they should take to maintain a healthy body.

Dr. Rodriguez: Reflection

Did Michael Pollan influence any part of your eating habits/decisions? Why or why not?

Michael Pollan did influence my eating habit because at the end of the day if I stop eating so badly it can be apart of a solution, helps the environment and change my health for the best. Besides that the way food is made scared me for life because the the process in which its made and how it can have a severe on future generations. because of the book I want to have my own business where I am not lied to or keep from the truth of my food and have way healthier choices on my diet. The chemicals and fats used to make the industrial food chain cause obesity,"Seventeen percent of kids age six through nineteen are obese."(76) This can have several side affects and diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, and many other chronic diseases that is whats going on because of this many suffer but. The abuses the animals and employees under go especially in disgusting environments with stuffy air and manure every where. animals are feed diets that they have not evolved into eating to seed up growth and development that can impact not only them but us as well.

Dr.Rosario ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿซ

To be honest, micheal pollan really didnt affected me of eating the food i eat daily. Even though what i eat contains chemical and other unhealthy ingredients, i wont stop eating them because my body (stomach) is use to eating the food.

Dr.Gil:Reflection

I believe that Michael Pollan did not influence my eating habits but he did influence my decisions because now that I know where my food is coming from I will watch what I eat and be more careful to watch the label but not act paranoid and only eat certain things. I will still eat the meat because I'm the type that always eats meat but I will try and find where the food is from and if it's healthy.

Dr.Zahzam Reflection ๐Ÿ”ฎ

I beleive that it didn't really effect me but I though of it because I eat food like other people but just because it's bad for me it might effect me a little or a lot but it got me to thing how much of an big effect it could cause but I don't eat a lot of chicken or other But if corn is in most thing I eat then what am I'm going to eat at all it's either I eat something bad or starve but I mostly like to eat healthy and like to eat fruits on my spare time but it didn't effect me a lot but I still eat what I eat .

Dr.simplice topic: Reflection

To be honest even with micheal pollan telling us about the food we eat in are everday lives i could not image a eorld with out chicken it taste to good to give up i have read what it can do to us but i have been eating it for 14 years and i see no problems i am skinny  so why change the food i eat

Dr.Terrero

Michael Pollen did influence any parts of my eating habits. One reason why he did influence my decision is because,i mean food will be food.Although it may contain chemicals and certain things like that food.If your enjoying a food such as a burger or chicken wing, would you honestly want to know its past and how it got to you?No because you it would ruin your appetite.Another way he influenced my descion was when he targeted the foods that are casually eaten daily.I mean once you know its past and how it is made,it will make you think about that food completely differently.Michael does sound like he his telling us that almost everything now is bad but if its just the truth.

Dr. Uwawuike: Reflection

Michael Pollan definitely influenced me about my eating habits because he included a myriad of examples, diagrams, the truth, and statistics that made me wonder about what was going into my mouth. It is stated in the text "Seventeen percent of kids age six through nineteen are obese. This is a giant public health problem, costing the health care system an estimated $90 billion a year."(76) It is also stated in the text "It's true there's a little door in each shed leading out a narrow grassy yard. But here's the catch: The door remains firmly shut until the birds are at least five weeks old. But that time they are used to the shed that none of them go outside. And then all of them get slaughtered two weeks later." These two quotes show the ways that the author influenced me about my eating habits, he used statistics and told/showed me the truth about the chickens I eat. This influenced me because it made me feel bad for the chickens and make me not want to eat chicken again(although I still eat it). It also made me afraid about eating because I didn't want to become obese. Therefore, Michael Pollan influenced me by using examples like statistics and telling me the truth.

Dr.Arias: Reflection

Did Michael Pollan influence any part of your eating habits/decisions?

Pollan didn't influence me strongly but he did made look at the other way on how food is made. He didn't influence me strongly because he mainly stated his opinion and his experince. Pollan should have add more statics and others people viewpoints.

Dr. Andujar

Michael Pollan didn't affect any of my eating habbits. Even though he explained on how the food chains do what they do to get the food, I still eat the food and it hasn't caused me harm. I feel as in if the food i eat taste good & doesnt harm me or my health it's alright to eat.

Dr. Flores : Reflection

Did Michael Pollan influence any part of your eating habits/decisions at all? Why or why not?

To be honest, as much as I learned about the way animals are treated or how things are made, it didn't really make me think about what I'm eating. Yes, it did make me think twice about it, but I don't think I'll stop eating meat. I don't eat meat very often, which is a good thing I guess. But I think Michael Pollan didn't really make an influence to think about my food choices.

Reflection

Pollans viewpoint did don't change my perspective on what I eat I have been eating the same stuff since i can remember and nothing has happen to my health and on till something does happen I won't change what I eat probably if I do become a perfesonal athlete then I'll be more Healthy and make better decisions since I'm paying for it but like I said until then no changes got me

Dr. Carry - Pollan influence

Michael Pollan's book did not influence my eating habits at all. Though I do feel bad about where my food comes from and the quality of which they're treated, they are animals after all. Not saying we should mistreat animals, but

Dr.Cox Hunter Gatherer

The Hunter Gatherer Food chain dosent seem like something anyone would use in this time. People sometimes don't even want to cook they're own food, what makes you think they would want to hunt and gather they're meals. Pollan states that he has to kill his food himself, and he didn't feel so good afterwards while it was a exciting moment he relized he just killed a animal and wasn't to happy about that.Hunter Gatherer means everyone has to kill hunt and gather for there own food all ages and not to many people are up for that or even fit for that.

Dr. Andujar

I dont believe the hunter gatherer foodchain is practical in the u.s because it is not needed. There are the resources that are needed to make this happen but people will not do it because they don't need to. It would also be a waste of time to go through with all of that when you have other food that is already prepared for you. Some people do not have the effort and would like things done for them.

Dr.Dones Hunter Gatherer

I believe that people in the U.S. Wouldn't use the hunter gatherer food chain because it's not necessary. In the book Michael discusses how he killed a pig but afterwards he didn't have a good feeling about it, and I think people would rather go to the supermarket to buy food. Also, going to the supermarket or grocery store is easier than going in the middle of the woods and killing an animal. Which is another reason that I believe Americans won't use the hunter gatherer food chain.

Dr. Rodriguez: Hunter-Gatherer

Dr. Diallo๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘: Hunter-Gatherer

Is it possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S.? Why or why not?

I say it's not practical for the hunter-Gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because people might find it hard to hunt for their own food. In the text "Omnivore's Dilemma" Micheal Pollan states " To make my hunter-gatherer meal, I needed not only hunting skills, but gathering skills as well. This tells me that getting your own food does require a lot of work because you need to have develop skills as a hunter and a Fatherer to get your own food and some people might just find that too difficult. In the text the author includes details that sums up the idea that American will rather buy their food than get it for themselves. This tells me that Americans are used to the daily lifestyles they're are now living and hunting-gathering now a days is rare.

Dr.Rosario hunter gatherer

I don't think it would possibly be practical for people in the U.S to go by the hunter gatherer food chain because nobody would want to go hunt for food, its a lot of work. As the book states  "I needed not only hunting skills but gathering skills as well."  In order to be a hunter gatherer you have to learn a lot and have the skill and ability to be one; and for fact many Americans wouldn't want to hunt for food. (Thats cave man-years lmao)

Dr.Lissade:Hunter Gatherer

It is possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because it's normal to hunt for animals and other plants then send them to the supermarket to sell it to us. The text states" To make my hunter-gatherer meal, I needed not only hunting skills but gatherering skills as well." This shows many hunters do both , hunt for animals and gatherer plants.

Dr.Kone

(Topic: Hunter-Gatherer): "Is it possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S.? Why or why not?

No,because U.S. Mostly has stores and stuff.Which don't require skill to hunt for our own food. Everything is already grown and cleaned properly. And don't need to be checked cause we have humans and machines to do the work. This is why hunter gather food chain tatics are not necessary in the U.S.

Dr.Gomez: Hunter Gather

I don't think it would be practical because, hunting now a days  isn't really needed. But, also at the same time I think it is practical because, I mean how do we get our meat now a days we have to kill the animals to get their meat to live and survive. I do understand how it feels for Pollan killing that pig. But, in reality people do live in the hunter gather food chain.

Dr.Gil:Hunter Gatherer

I don't think that people in the u.s would use the hunter gatherer food chain because we can actually buy the food and don't have to hunt to eat. In the text it mentions how Michael had to kill a pig and when he realized what he had done he regretted it an I don't think that people in the u.s are able to do these things. Also most people just go to the store rather than go hunt food to show off to the people that they will eat it with.

Dr . Arnaud : hunter gather .

I believe that it's not possible for hunter gather food chain to be practical in the us because I think it's harder to actually hunt for food because theirs not a lot of forest or woods for people to hunt because that's usually where you can hunt for animals . That's why I think it's harder for the hunter gather to follow the food chain for the lack of forest & animals in them .

Dr. Naraidoo : hunter gatherer

I don't think it would be practical for people in the U.S. to go by the hunter gatherer food chain because people wouldn't want to go and get up to get their own food. As shown in the book "I needed not only hunting skills but gathering skills as well." To aquire the hunter gatherer food chain it's a skill to have. Many people in America wouldn't want to try to aquire that skill. Also shown in the book " And of course there's the whole poison thing. I have never once worried that a cucumber I grew from a seed would kill me if I ate it." Americans would rather get food and buy it than getting their own food. They would also look at it as a risk because they never know if the food is poisonous. I don't think the hunter gatherer food chain would be practical in America.

Dr . Zahzam Hunter Gather ⛺️

I would say it's possible because some people might not like or they might not trust what's in our food because even I don't know what's in most of my food that I eat but I eat it to survive so what's better knowing what your eating or getting something you bought from the store that you don't know we're its been around because in the text it states " I had tried out my rifle...I take what I need, enough to make a nice dinner for me and my friends" This quote shows It might be more fun for the people to get their food and they could be cautious and get their food . The text also states " I need not only hunting skills, but gathering skills as well . " This quote shows how it going to be helpful and how we could get our food our self for free .

Dr. Uwawuike: Hunter-Gatherer

I do not think that it is possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because it takes place in woodsy areas and uses equipment that isn't casually allowed in some parts in the U.S. It is stated in the text "I had tried out my rifle...I take what I need, enough to make a nice dinner for me and my friends..." This quote shows why I think that the hunter gatherer food chain would be practical in the U.S, guns can not be casually used and given to everyone just for food. Also, everyone will just get enough for themselves and so what happens to those who can't use a gun or go hunting due to their circumstances? Will they not eat? It is also sated in the text "We drove for several hours and gradually climbed into the mountains of the Eldorado National Forest." This quote shows why I think that the hunter gatherer food chain would not be practical in the U.S, in order to gather you have to be in woodsy areas and not everyone lives near a forest or the woods. What happens to the people who line in a city? Will they not eat either? Therefore, I do not think that it is possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because not everyone lives near a forest and countries can't just hand guns to everyone to hunt for food for themselves.

Dr.simplice:hunter-gather๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰

Is it possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S. I say no becauseim very lazy and there are a lot of lazy people in the u.s. i cant image me in the woods teying to find food to eat when there are corner stores and resturants where i can just buy food. It states in the text" Only around 100 of the nearly 10,000 different kinds of mushrooms-just 1 percent! - are safe to eat,"(pg.206) that means i would have to spend hours trying to find the mushrooms that i could eat. It also states in the text" What I had in mind was a dinner made entirely from the foods I had hunted, gathered, and grown myself,"(pg.205) that is mad work and others will agree witg me i cant live in the u.s. if this was to happen this is also the reason i would not want to travel back in time.

Dr.Vazquez hunter gather

I say that it is practical for a hunter gathers food chain in the U.S because there's many forest in the u.s and a hunter gathers job is to go to the woods or forest and gather up food like mushrooms the only problem is poison and finding out which one is poison and which is not and I know that many people in the u.s is not really about that life their life is waking up then work and then back home so in some cases it's practical and some other cases it's not.

Dr. Paulino: Hunter-Gatherer

Is it possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S.?

I believe that its not possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S. I think this because I don't think people would go hunting and gathering their own food more than before, now that you can just buy organic food. Also, in the book they go gathering for mushrooms, but there are more poisonous mushrooms than safe ones. So why would I risk gathering mushrooms instead of just buying them and know that those mushrooms are safe to eat. In the book it states, "What I had in mind was a dinner made entirely from the foods I had hunted, gathered, and grown myself,"(pg.205). Now there are a lot of people who wouldn't even get up to go to the supermarket so what should make me think that hunting for your own food is better? In the book it also states, "Only around 100 of the nearly 10,000 different kinds of mushrooms-just 1 percent! - are safe to eat,"(pg.206). This is an example of a reason why I believe it's not possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S. I don't think people are going to risk eating a poisonous mushroom just to make food that you gathered yourself. I believe that it's not possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S.

Dr.Vazquez Local sustainable

The benefits outweigh the risks in local sustainable because working in a organic farm is good and there's not so much abuse and hate to the animals and sometimes the animals do more work then you think. The text states " give them twenty-four hours to eat the grass and fertilize it with their droppings ". This shows a benefit because the farmer doesn't need to always fix the grass him self when he gets new or more chickens they do it them selves will they stay on the farm.

Dr. Rodriguez: Local Sustainable Reflection

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain? Why or why not?

In this case benefits outweigh the risks because the way the meat is produced and grown does not contain any chemical dose not impact the environment or  us in a negative way. The text states, "Give them twenty-four hours to eat grass and fertilize it with their droppings, and then move them onto fresh ground... The chicken manure fertilizes the grass supplying all the nitrogen it needs." Also, "Because of the chickens, Joel doesn't have to treat his cattle with toxic chemicals to get rid of parasites." These to quotes give information on how they don't need any chemicals that can harm the environment in a large way they use the most organic and healthy way possible. The text also states, "...organic food does cost more at the cash register. That is going to make it hard for some people to afford it."

Dr.Terrero๐Ÿ’ป

I believe that the risk do not outweigh the benefits of local sustainable. As seen in the text,"the chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs."This piece of evidence shows that the people don't have to do work since the manure is fertilizing the grass. As seen in the text,"but left in one place the chicken would eventually destroy the soil."this piece of evidence shows that destroying the soil means more work

Do the Risks Outweigh the Benefits of the Local Sustainable Food Chain - Dr. Carty

I believe the benefits outweigh the risks when it comes to Local Sustainable. The benefits include that the environment is being helped and also that the animals are being treated as animals and not as machines. In the text, Pollan states that one type of farming destroyed the land, but now a new type of farming was restoring it. This obviously shoes the benefits of local sustainable farming because it's helping fix the environment after another type of farming ruined the land. Another benefit is that the animals are being treated like animals. In text it states that the people on the farm try their best not to work against the animals' natural instincts. They do this in various ways as to not make the chickens seem like egg laying, meat producing machines. One risk, however, is that the farming is seasonal and may not be available at all times. This is why the benefits outweigh the risks.

Dr. Contreras: Local Substanable๐ŸŒด

In this case the risks do not overweigh the benefits. Local Sustainable food chain is more like a help to the environment than a harm. The text states "Give them twenty-four hours to eat the grass and fertilize it with their droppings." This quote shows that the chickens in the local sustainable farm are helping the soil. The text also states "Joel says the chickens get about 20 percent of their diet from the fresh grass, worms, grasshoppers, and crickets they find." This is a benefit because the chickens are meant to eat grass they have adapted to do so, but in the industrial , and industrial organic farms chickens are force to eat corn. Some people do want to by food from a local sustainable farm but they can't. The text states " Still, whatever the reason, organic and beyond organic food does cost more at the cast register. That is going to make it hard for some people to afford it." This shows that a risks of buying local sustainable food is that it cost more. The main risks of buying beyond organic food is that it can hurt your pocket, but besides that it really helps the environment by making the soil better while they are growing and raising their food.

Dr.Maldonado Local sustainable reflection

'I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks of local sustainable because there are a lot more benefits than ther are risks. In the text it states that " the chicken manure fertilizers the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs". This shows how the benefits out weigh the risks because now the farmers are helping them selfs and the environment at the sam time. On the other hand,

Dr.Kone Benefits vs. Risk

"Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain ? "

The benefits outweigh the risk. Although there are few risk organic food is not affordable for some people. People are able to feel safe about a there food because it is received from a local farm. In the book it states "getting their food from polyface lets them feel connected to their food these customers know exactly where their food comes from." Humans are satisfied and feel safe with there food. Animals also Contribute to this animals such as chickens help the envoirment grow. Stated in the book is " The chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs." This is how benefits outweigh risk because people are sastified with safe food and animals contribute to developing the envoirment.

Dr.Lissade: Local Sustainable Reflection

The risks outweigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain because most farmers aren't really being fair or treating the chickens right. The text states " The chicken manure fertilizer the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs." (163) This shows how the chickens are helping the lands of the farms with the food they grow that we humans eat. A risk is that some chickens aren't picked out gently by the farmers. The text states " To me, the way he'd grabbed and flipped the birds seemed pretty rough." This shows that farmers aren't really being fair to the chickens at all. If they don't treat it well, they won't be able to live longer and help out the farmers land with the crops.

Dr. Andujar : Local Sustainable ๐ŸŒš

The benefits outweigh the risks on the local sustainable food chain because they help out with your health and the environment. The text states, "Give them twenty-four hours to eat the grass and fertilize it with droppings, and then then move onto fresh ground" (162). This shows that local sustainable outweigh the risks because it cleans up and helps the environment quickly and naturally. The text also states, " These people were paying a higher price for polyface food, an in many cases driving more than am hour to come get it". People are paying much more for locally grown food but it is worth it because it taste better and overall improves your health and the environment. Paying more money is nothing when in the longshot you are getting better tasting food and improving the environment while you're at it.

Dr.Zahzam Local Sustainable ๐Ÿ˜

I believe that the risks outweighs the benefits of the local sustainable food chain because even thought the author puts good benefits like how the chicken manure fertilizes the grass and provide nitrogen the risks outweigh it because I'm the text it states " An infection could kill 20,000 birds overnight " This quote shows how even if one bird have an infection then almost all the birds will get the infection and die . The text also states ... " Fifty-six days is the amount of time it would take the chicken to grow big enough to be slaughtered." This quote shows how the birds live in bad conditions and they are stuff in an place for 56 days and then they get slaughtered on the spot and they are in bad living conditions too .

Dr. Diallo๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘: Local Sustainable Reflection

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain?

I think the benefits outweigh the risks of the local sustained food chain because the benefits is proven to be more better and useful than the risk. In the text "Omnivore's Dilemma" Micheal Pollan states, "The chicken manure fertilizes the grass supplying it all the nitrogen it needs". This piece of detail confirms with my ideas because it elaborates on how the local sustained food chain is helping the environment by the chickens raised in the local sustainable food chain letting the grass to depend on them to live and reproduce and grow without any harm or just naturally. The text also states, "This kills any bacteria and after a few weeks the rich, cakey compost is ready to be spread on the fields". This tells me that during the process of the local sustainable food chain, the pigs that are also raised from there also help the environment by killing bacteria which decreases pollution to the environment     which allows the environment to be more clean and a healthy place for us to live. The author talks about how the local sustainable food is expensive. This is a risks but not so much of a risk that does any harm to us humans or the environment. Not affording the food can lead to some other conflicts by the local sustainable food not being bought by customers because it's too expensive which will cause this food chain to be driven out of business. But people don't buy because it helps the environment but they buy it because it tastes good and takes a short amount of time to reach them and they know where their food is coming from.

Dr.Arias:Local sustainable ๐ŸŒš

For local sustainable farms, the risks do not outweigh  benefits because the risks aren't dangerous to humans. One risk that local sustainable farms have is that the farms can be complicated because the system has to be perfect so everything can work. But the benefits outweigh the risks because the texts states" Somehow getting and eggs from the Salatins helped these folks solve their dilemma, at least a little. Getting their food from poly face lets feel connected to their food." In this quote, it shows how local sustainable makes people feel better about what they're eating.

Dr.Naraidoo:Local sustainable reflection

I believe the benefits outweighs risks of the local sustainable food chain because it's more healthier , fresh, and better to eat. As shown in the book "... These consumers know exactly where their food comes from... and taste better." The food taste better and the people know where it comes from. Also shown in the book, " you're not going to find fresher chickens anywhere." This supports the idea that local sustainable food chain is more fresh and heathy because the chickens are fresh. However people might say risks outweigh the benefits because the food cost more. This isn't true because the quality of the food contributes to the price. You pay more for a better quality food.

Dr.Rosario Local sustainable ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‹

Yes i believe that risks overweigh benefits because as stated " people were paying higher price for polyface food and in many cases driving more than an hour to come get it" (pg184) this shows that we pay more because it comes from a local sustainable farm. These food are maintained in healthy conditions though, as stated " the chicken manure fertilize the grass supplying all the nitrogen it needs" (pg163).

Dr . Arnaud : local sustainable- benefits & risks

The risk outweigh the Benefits of the local sustainable food chain because it's helps the earth and it's good for people's health . Even though the food gets expensive because of how healthy and natural the food is , this causes the risk to outweigh the benefits . In the text it states , " people were paying a higher price for poly face food and in many cases driving more than hour to come get it ..." This states that risk out weigh the benefits because it's coming from a local sustainable farm , which is natural .

Dr. Lewis Local Sustainable reflection

Do the risk out weigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain ? No , I believe the benefits out weigh the risks this time of the local sustainable food chain . People believe that the risk out weigh the benefits because they have different perspectives . In the text it states " the chicken manure fertilizes the grass , supplying all nitrogen it needs " pg 163 . This means the manure is helping the ground and that's a good benefit to the farm . Another quote from the text that shows how the Benifits out weigh the risks is " because of the chickens Joel doesn't have to treat his cattle with toxic chemicals to get rid of parasites " this means that using the local sustainable food chain it helps the earth , and many farms . The farm food is healthy now because he doesn't need to add chemicals to his products. This is why the Benifits of local substanib leaders food chain out the risks .

Dr.Paulino:local sustainable reflection

I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks. I say this because there aren't as many risks as benefits. A benefit is that the chickens manure can be used to fertilize the grass. In the text it states, " the chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs,"(pg.163). Another benefit can be that because of the chickens, joel (a farmer), doesn't have to treat the cows with toxic chemicals. One last benefits is that the scratching of the hens turns the chips and rabbits nitrogen-rich urine into compost, which can help the grass grow. A risks of the local sustainable is that if chickens stay in one place, their manure can destroy the soil. In the text it states," but left in one place, the chickens would eventually destroy the soil,"(pg.163). This is the only risk in the local sustainable food chain, it's also really bad. Without the soil the farmers won't have any food for the cattle.

Dr.Dones benefits vs. risks local sustainable

I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks in the local sustainable farms. The farms have both benefits and risks. The text states "The chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs" (pg 163) This means that the animals on the farm helps the environment by helping the grass grow instead of using unnatural substances. However there are also risks to local sustainable farms. The text "But left In one place, the chickens would eventually destroy the soil"(pg 163)  This means that if the farmers leave the chickens in one place for too long it could kill the soil.

Dr. Uwawuike: Local Sustainable Reflection

The risks of the local sustainable food chain does not outweigh the benefit because the risks do jot affect the health of the people and isn't as negative as the other food chain. It is stated in the text "Unlike supermarket eggs, Polyface eggs are different at different time of the year...For example, lambs are born in the springs...not ready to be eaten for eight to ten months..."(189) This quote shows the risks of is food chain, certain foods can not be eaten all year long, which is a challenge for fakers and customers. It is also stated in the text "The chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs."(163) This suite shows the benefit of this food chain, it is good for the environment and is grown without chemicals. Therefore, although the are many risks of the this food chain, it isn't as lethal as other food chains and can be felt with. The benefits, however, are not only beneficial to the people eating it but to the environment too.

Dr.Cox Local Sustainable Reflection

The benefits in my eyes outweigh the negatives, this type of farming is actually repairing the ground which was probably messed up by the regular industrial farming. And not only that the farms are behond organic, the animals are treated unfair and not forced to eat something they were born not to eat.Everything is in there natural balance but of course there is going to be cons to the side of this. The chickens can in fact mess up the ground if they stay on the ground to long. But it can simple be repaired somewhere else the same way.

Dr. Estevez: Local Sustainable Reflection

NO! Of course not because there are barely any risks. I've been trying for 10 minutes to find a risk and couldn't find anything. All I found was benefits. One I found was "Give them twenty-four hours to eat the grass and fertilize it with their droppings, and then move them on to fresh ground." This is a benefit cause it shows how it fertilizes the ground and the ground is the environment so it show how this food chain helps the environment. And the only risk I found was "To me, the way he'd grabbed and flipped the birds seems pretty rough." It can be animal abuse towards the birds cause if your treat them rough they are fragile so they might get hurt or maybe die and have permanent body damage. In this food chain it's almost impossible to find a risk when there are so many benefits for the environment and for us as human beings.

Dr. Flores: local sustainable reflection๐Ÿ’

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the local sustainable food chain? Why or why not?

The risks do outweigh the risks. Although there is risks, like "An infection could kill 20,000 birds overnight," for example, but the risks are worth it because of the benefits. The text states that "Chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs." on page 163. It's good because the chicken benefits the environment and the environment gives back to the animals, like the chickens.

Dr.Gil:Local Sustainable Reflection

Do the risk outweight the benefits of the local sustainable food chain?
I believe that the benefits outweight the risks because mos of the risk we hear about in the book are things that can happen if they are not careful but in thenfarm they are so they cant happen. The text states"the chicken manure fertilizes the grass, supplying all the nitrogen it needs"(163). This helps me understand that the chickens droppings actually help the environment grow rather than harming it and that because of it they dont have to use chemicals to help the grass grow. The text states"but left in one place the chickens would eventually destroy the soil"(163). This helps me understand that if they are not carefull the chickens can harm the earth rather than help it but in the farm they are carefull and they make sure to move the pens so that it does not happen. So i believe that the benefits outweight the risks because the farm takes precausion so that the risks stated do not happen in the farm and they help the environment while making chemical free food.

Dr.Lissade: Omnivore's Dilemma

The solution the local sustainable food chain offer to the Omnivore's Dilemma is that they help our lands grow more healthier and better. They even use the animals to help them grow the crops too. It also makes the other food chains land even better. And it also good for them cause we pay a lot of money for the healthy food.

Dr. Andujar

Local sustainable offers health and better tasting food. Since the food is grown naturally without chemicals the overall taste is better. People are able to know exactly where their food comes from and from who. Local sustainable also is able to repair the land that industrial has damaged quickly and naturally. Although the food from local sustainable cost more it is oberall worth it because it improves your health and has better taste.

Dr.Dones omnivores dilemma

The solution omnivores dilemma offers about local sustainable food chain helps the environment. This is because the farmers plant their crop differently from the other types of food chains. Also, people know where the food they're eating comes from so they feel more comfortable knowing the farm is helping them and the environment.

Dr.Cox Omnivore's Delima

Holding a local farms has many benefits, one being the farms technically actually help clean up the land. the land refresh and clean or renewed you can say because of these farms.Besides that, the food usally taste better than non organic food, not only that this good food that consumers will like actually now where there food is coming from.

Dr . Arnaud : omnivores dilemma

The solution for omnivores dilemma for local sustainable is that we pay more for the food . The reason for this is because everything is more natural and better for our Health . But , it's more money . " he wants the sale of his eggs and meat to help other local businesses like small shops and restaurants..." (182) this is showing are things are more natural and organic . " people were paying a higher price for polygamy food , and in many cases diving more than an hour to come get it but they were not wealthy , upper-middle-class people ..." ( 184) this is showing that even though people pay not have the money they still go get it , they take time and money out of their life and actually pay a big amount to get these kinds of food.

Dr.Naraidoo: Omnivores Dilemma

The solution for omnivores dilemma local sustainable offers is that the food we pay for is healthy and tatse good, however it's more money. As shown in the book , I just don't trust the meat in the supermarket anymore. You're not going to find fresher chickens anywhere." In the local sustainable food chain he food is healthy and more fresh. Also shown in the book," ... These customers know exactly where their food comes from. Plus they think it taste better." The local sustainable brings that solution to an omnivores dilemma of better, tastier, and healthy food. However the local sustainable food is more money. Stated in the book "Whenever I hear people say clean food is expensive..." This shows how the opposing viewpoint is that the local sustainable food is more expensive. That's not sound because te food is more expensive but it's the quality of the food.

Dr.Kone

Many people are able to receive there food and know where it comes froms and are sastified."getting their food from poly face let's them feel connected to thier food these customers know exactly where their food comes from.Plus ,they think it's taste better." This shows how people are sastified with there short distance food being safe and healthy

Dr.Gonzalez-Ominivores Dilemna

The solution for Omnivores Dilemma is that the customers know there is a variety of food. In the text it states, " Getting their food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food-these customers know exactly where their food comes from,"(pg.184). This shows that there is a connection between the customer and the food. The text also says"Polyface Farm raises chicken, beef, turkeys, eggs, rabbits, and pigs, plus tomatoes, sweet corn, grapes, and berries".This lets customers know there is multiple food sources.

Dr. Rodriguez: Omnivore's Dilemma

What solution for the omnivore’s dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?

The solution for the omnivores dilemma the local sustainable food chain offers is a way to solve their omnivores dilemma by giving healthy chemical free meal and a sence of where the food is coming from and security. The text states, "Somehow, getting meat and eggs from the Salatins helped these folks solve their dilemma, at least a little. Getting their food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food-these customers know exactly where their food comes from."(184) this quote shows how the local sustainable food chain helps people solve a part of their dilemma because there is a connection that the people feel between their food especially when they know exactly where its coming from.

Dr.Feliciano

The solution for the omnivore’s dilemma is that the local sustainable food chain offers fast and healthy food and also it tell people where there food is actually coming from. People also feel connected to their food. the text states " Compared to that, the Polyface " beyond organic " food chain is incredibly short " (pg.182). This explains why they're faster because they have to travel a shorter distance to the markets. The text also states " Getting their food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food-these customers know exactly where their food comes from,"(pg.184).  This quote shows how people are most likely to get food from Polyface because it their fast to deliver and people actually know where their food comes from.

Dr.Gil:Omnivores Dilemma

What solution for the omnivores dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?
The solution that it offers is that it actually helps the environment and the people consuming it know where the food they eat is coming from and the way the farmers plant it does not harm the people or the environment.

Dr. Diallo๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘: Omnivore's Dilemma

What solution for the omnivore’s dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?

I believe the solution the omnivore's Dilemma that the local sustainable food chain offer is that it tastes good, we customers know where our food is coming from and it is the right way of eating. In the text it states, "Getting their food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food- these customers know exactly where their food comes from" pg. 184. This piece of detail confirms my idea by portraying that customers who buy local sustainable food do know where their food is coming from and make them feel satisfied because they know how their food reached them and know how their food was processed. It also offer food that tastes good which is also natural and healthy. This is because the local sustainable food chain is processed well, and use no chemicals to grow its food and also it's the right way of eating. I revered I said Omnivore's Dilemma means a difficult situation we humans are in either for choosing the way we eat. This is the claim my ideas is connecting and my reasoning.

Dr.simplice: Omnivore’s Dilemma

The solution stated in Omnivore's Dilemma for this dilemma is that local sustainable food chain offers is that the farms grow a variety of food. It is stated in the text "Polyface Farm raises chicken, beef, turkeys, eggs, rabbits, and pigs, plus tomatoes, sweet corn, grapes, and berries." It is also stated in the text "It had been grazed twice by beef cattle. After the cattle it had been home to several hundred laying hens." These  quotes both show a solution that the local sustainable food chain offers to the omnivore's dilemma.

Dr.Lissade: Industrial Organic Food Chain

The risks dont outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain because there's many good things about other industrial organic food chain. One reason it's healthy for you. The text states" It was grown without the help of fossil fuels, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers." This shows how the plants are grown more naturally and it's way healthier than industrial food chain. Also another reason is they treat their animals better. The text states " these organic birds have it pretty good. They get few more square inches of living space per bird." This shows how the industrial organic food chain treats their animals way better. This shows how risks doesn't outweigh the benefits in this  food chain.

Dr.. Paulino: Omnivore's Dilemma

Whats solution for the Omnivores Dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?

A solution to the Omnivores Dilemma that the local sustainable food chain has is that getting your food from there lets people feel connected to their food. The customers who buy the food know where their food came from. In the text it states, " Getting their food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food-these customers know exactly where their food comes from,"(pg.184). Also, the customers think it tastes better, even though the food cost a little more money. In the text it states, "Plus, they think it tastes better... Whenever I hear people say clean food is expensive, I tell them it's actually the cheapest food you can buy,"(pg.185). The local sustainable food chain had a solution to the Omnivore's Dilemma by the customers feeling connected to the food and knowing where their food exactly came from.

Dr. Rodriguez: Industrial Organic Food Chain

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain? Why or why not? Use at least two pieces of evidence to support your response.

The risks out weigh the benefits because the form in which the livestock and produce are grown in very similar process as the industrial food chain that used chemicals. the text states,"The organic stores like Whole Foods is organic because it is grown without chemical fertilizer or pesticides."(114) This evidence explain that this food chain does not use any type of chemicals in their foods which is healthy and natural for the environment. Yet in the text it states, "This organic HFCS could come in useful when making  "organic" processed foods, like organic soda and organic TV dinners."(115) The chemicals of HFCS are mainly used in high chemical foods to give it a certain kick to the industrial and industrial organic companies."

Dr. Uwawuike: Omnivore's Dilemma

The solution for the Omnivore's Dilemma the local sustainable food chain offers is that the farms grow a variety of food. It is stated in the text "Polyface Farm raises chicken, beef, turkeys, eggs, rabbits, and pigs, plus tomatoes, sweet corn, grapes, and berries." It is also stated in the text "It had been grazed twice by beef cattle. After the cattle it had been home to several hundred laying hens." These two quotes show a solution that the local sustainable food chain offers to the omnivore's dilemma. The omnivore's dilemma is the issue that since omnivores can eat anything it is hard for them to know what is the right thing to eat. However, since the local sustainable farms grow and raise a variety of animals that are grown mostly naturally, omnivores would know the right thing to eat. Therefore, the local sustainable farms offer a solution the omnivore's dilemma by growing a variety of mostly natural crops and animals.

Dr. Vazquez Omnivores dilemma

Local sustainable foods can help solve omnivores dilemma by making all the foods cheaper and making people go out of their way to get what they like because they know that the food was made in a farm that the animals where treated nicely and the farmers had feelings for the animals the text says "all this meat comes from happy animals-I know because I've seen them". This shows how the people know that the animals where cared for. The text states " I drived 150 miles one way in order to get clean meat for my family ". This shows how people go out of there way just for a nice price of great chicken that they know is good.

Dr. Flores : "Omnivor's Dilemma"

What solution for the omnivore's dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?

The food chain provides many solutions for the omnivore's dilemma. The author jots down and explains different comments from the customers who buy at the farm; the customers saying things like, "It actually tastes like chicken." and, "All this meat comes from happy animals - I know because I've seen them." The author also states that, "Getting food from Polyface lets them feel connected to their food - these customers know exactly where their food comes from." The food chains help customers make sure that the food is fresh to assure them and maybe any other family they have at home.

Dr. Estevez

The problem with people these days and there food is they don't know where it comes from. They don't trust the meat from the big name brands so they have to drive like over 100 miles just to get 100% clean meat. It's ridiculous. "These customers know exactly where their food comes from." When you know where ur food comes from it sells faster. "It's actually the cheapest food you can buy." Clean food isn't the most expensive and it's cheap so there is no reason to overprice good food. Instead of trying to cover up how they make food just be public cause if they don't know you won't get anything in return if your a distributor.

Dr.Espinal: benefits vs risks

There are more benefits than risks for industrial organic .Meanwhile there still a very few risks.Such as unfair murder. For example in the book it states" the organic food in stores like whole foods is organic because it is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides " this shows how the industrial organic are naturally produced and healthy. However, Birds are keeped hostage and slaughtered later on. This is wrong because birds are getting murdered unfairly. This is one of the few risk of industrial organic foods. That's why there are more benefits than risk for industrial organic because it's naturally produced even if birds are getting slaughtered.

Dr.Gomez: Omnivore's Dilemma Response

I really cant understand the question as much....but what I think it means is that Local Sustainable brings back up the good things in the food chains since the first one we did was bad and the one we just finished was ok, but not as good as Local Sustainable. Local sustainable offers you fresh and good veggies and fruits, as well as good foods the natural way. There are rarely any risks of using that food chain. For example, in the book it says that when animals in a farm eat the grass, while in a pen with no floor, which is great for the animals so they can just eat from the floor the grass. Then when done they fertilize the ground with their manure. After, the farmer than moves them to another patch of grass to repeat the same process. Their manure helps the ground get fertilized to grow crops super easy.

Dr. Zahzam Solution for the omnivore’s dilemma

What solution for the omnivore’s dilemma does the local sustainable food chain offer?

The local sustainable food chain offers an solution for the omnivore dilemma because they were talking about were your food came from like would you rather have your chicken or your food  eat in an crowed place eating corn or have your food eating in an nice roam free place eating grass . Well some people buy their food from two different places and other people don't know where their food come from or what their food ate . And now for some people because of that change chicken and some of their favorite food taste different to them now . Now they offer people chicken that eat corn chicken that eat grass and etc.

Dr.Gonzalez-Industrial Organic Risks vs. Benefits

The benefits and risks of the industrial organic food are both similar. But the benefits  outweigh the risks. The texts says"It meant living in harmony with nature instead of trying to control it".This shows we don't have to use chemicals no more and earth can have less pollution. But however the risk says" The cows are fed corn just like the cows at poky, but their feed is organic".This shows that the cows aren't being fed well and that is a risk.Basially the benefits of industrial organic food are better and more efficient.

Dr.Dones benefits vs. risks

The industrial organic has both benefits and risks but the benefits outweigh the risks. The organic industrial food chain is better for the environment but it's also more expensive than industrial food. The text states "The important thing, he would argue, is that behind every organic TV dinner or chicken stand acres of land that will no longer be doused with chemicals" This quote means that chemicals aren't going to be used anymore and the environment would be less harmed. But there are also risks to the industrial organic food chain.  The text states "Now, a steak like that has got to taste better than one without a story. You can bet it will be more expensive too." This quote means that when the food is organic it's more expensive and less people would buy it and people would be tempted to buy the unhealthy food because it's cheaper.

Dr.Feliciano

In my opinion the risks do outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain. I say this because they treat the animals badly or cruelly. The text states " The cows on these farms spends their time in a fenced lot eating organic grain for the three times a day they are hooked up to milking machines ". This shows a risk because these cows have no freedom and their forced to eating organic grain. However, The text states " The organic  food in stores like whole foods is organic because it is  grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides ". This explains a benefit fit because they don't modify their food like others. It not worth the cruelty just so that we can eat healthier.

Dr. Castillo

The benefits outweigh the risks because it gives the environment the freedom it deserves.the author writes... "It meant living in harmony with nature instead of trying to control it"pg 113. This shows that the organic farming gives back the freedom to nature which is a great thing because chemicals aren't being poured out on the earth we live on.One risk is...... "The cows are fed corn just like the cows at poky, but their feed is organic"pg 114. This is a risk because these cows aren't eating the food their supposed to. Over all the benefits outweigh the risks because the earth we live on is more important than these cows so the chemicals could come back and kill us or any other species.

Dr. Lewis: Industrial organic food

Do the risks out weigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain ?

I believe that the risks do out weigh the benefits of industrial organic food . People believe that since it says organic on the label it's healthy to eat but In the book " omnivores dilemma " it states " the government rules about organic food allow companies to make organic high fructose corn syrup .. Words I never expected to see combined " pg 114 cthis is showing me that the risk of making organic syrup is risky because  syrup isn't  a healthy thing to consume but the companys wants to make it organic , but only healthy food are organic  . an additional Quote from the text that shows how the risks do out weigh the benefits is  " several of the ingredients were synthetic additives that are permitted under federal organic rules "pg 115. This means company's add additional ingredients to their products even though it's suppose to be healthy .  Tons of farms and markets claim their products to be organic but also add other things . This gives me a reason why the risks outweigh benefits of the industrial organic food chain .

Dr.Lissade: Industrial Organic

The risks and benefits of the industrial organic food chain are one risks are many chickens are not living in a healthy environment. The text states" Since the birds receive no antibiotics and they are all genetically alike, if one gets sick , they all get sick." This shows that there wasn't living in a safe environment at all for the chicken. One benefit is that organic food is healthier. They talk about how they didn't use any chemical to plant the plants. So the risks does out weigh the benefits cause all chickens are getting sick and dieing.

Dr.Muรฑoz industrial organic food chain

The risks don't outweigh the benefits because the benifits are many.for example one risk from this food chain is that the cows get fed corn which is something that these cattle are not supposed to be eating. This shows a risk because we don't eat meat but meat with corn and this corn contains chemicals that enter our bodies. However, the benifits are many.  Here are some the text states, ".... Almost everything the farm uses is grown on the farm. Almost all of the energy used to make food comes from the sun."(150) This shows how these food chain use their environment to use and don't use chemicals and do everything all-natural. Also for instance," There are no pesticides,no artificial fertilizer,no pollution, and no extra waste."(150) This shows how the industrial organic food chain only use things that won't harm the environment. This is why the risks don't outweight the benifits.

Do the Risks Outweigh the Benefits of the Industrial Food Chain? Dr. Carty 802

In my opinion, I believe the benefits outweigh the risks of the Industrial organic food chain. For one, organic farms are not drowned in dozens and dozens of chemicals. "The important thing, he would argue, is that behind every organic TV dinner and chicken stands acres of land that will not be doused with chemicals." This obviously shows a benefit of Industrial Organic. Farms will no longer have to use harmful chemicals, like pesticides. This is a benefit because now humans do not have to worry about being sick because of chemicals. Another benefit is of course the matter of what's in the organic food themselves. "100% organic products contain only certified organic ingredients." This shows that the food is made with organic things that are healthy and not...unhealthy. One risk, or bad thing, about industrial organic is that the foods are very expensive! Pollan  states that the chicken cost $15, the vegetables $12, and the dessert $7. That's very expensive and way more costly than another kind of food chain.

Dr. Arnaud : risk & benefits

The risks don't outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain because everything in the organic food chain is natural . The food are grown without chemicals or fuels which make them organic and natural. This is good for people because it's healthy. However , when farmers would put chemicals into the cows , and we would eat it , it's unhealthy unlike organic food, this is a risk , it's causing deadly bacteria . For example , " the organic food in stores like whole foods is organic because it is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides" this is explaining how everything is natural and healthy . To show that it's unhealthy because of the bacteria and chemical is " the feedlots are also breeding grounds for new and deadly bacteria . "

Dr. Abriham:Industrial organic farming

The risks are greater than the benefits for industrial organic, because multiple animals are being taken away from the world without being able to do anything. In the text Pollan did state organic food most of the time actually does taste better which is good who wouldn't want good food but there is a lot of good food to do that to the chicken. However the text states"but here's the catch. The door remains firmly shut until the birds are at least five weeks old.By that time they are so used to the shed that none of them go outside. And then all of them are slaughtered two weeks later"showing how much the chickens life is terrible. Thats why the risks outweigh the benefits of industrial organic food because it is not right to ruin a lot of chickens lives just for a couple of humans enjoy meant.

Dr.Cox Industrial Organic Food chain

The risk of the Industrial organic food chain do outweigh the benefits. While according to  Pollan organic food most of the time actually does taste better which is good who wouldn't want that of course. But what happens when that very food called "Organic" is actually  drenched in fossils fuels,it defies the very meaning of the word organic in all the ways possible. Also according to Pollan Organic cattle and other animals are fed the same feed but just organic. This also shows that even if it says organic the animals are basically still being treated the same way as a industrial food chain animal which makes no difference at all

Dr. Diallo๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿš‘: Industrial Organic Food Chain

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain? Why or why not?

I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks of the industrial organic food because the benefits are very persuasive and influential rather than the risks. In the text " Omnivore's Dilemma" it states, "The word organic had become a kind of shorthand for food that is healthier or more natural or chemical free". Based on this text I can confirm on my idea on how the benefits of the industrial organic food chain is good because it is healthy and natural and these two factors are good for us because it can help our body fight foreign diseases that is trying to develop in our bodies. Not only that but natural doesn't cause pollution or increase in global warming because natural is the way everything works in it's own control. Micheal pollan also includes in his book " Ominvore's Dilemma" that organic tastes better. If organic is natural and tastes better how great is that. That is a beneficial to us hand because if we are all eating something that tastes good and healthy for us, chances of diseases could decrease and life span of humans could increase.

Dr. Naraidoo: Industrial organic food chain

The risks of the indutrial organic food chain outweighs the benefits because the risks are highly dangerous and is unnatural which defies the definition of the word organic. As stated in "omnivores dilemma" "... Organic meals is nearly drenched in fossil fuels..." This is a risk because it's unnatural for "fossil fuels" to be in a organic meal because an organic meal is supposed to be all natural. Also stated in "omnivores dilemma" "... The tiniest amount of this chemical can change a frogs sex..." This is a major risk be issue if something so outrageous is in our "organic" food what is the possibilities of this chemical that can affect humans? The risks of the organic industrial outweigh the benefits.

Dr.Gil:Industrial Organic Food Chain

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain?
I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks because the organic food is made without any chemicals with means that the food that is made does not harm the people that consume it because it's not not made with anything harmful. The yet states"It was grown without the help of fossil fuels, pesticides,or chemical fertilizers"(112). This helps me understand that the organic food is grown naturally which means that it does not have anything that can potentially harm those who consume it. One of the bad things would be that it's expensive. The text states"now a steak like that has got to taste better than one without a story. You can bet it will cost more too"(112). This helps me understand that the people that consume organic food will be spending more on food than a regular person. But i still believe that the benefits outweigh the risks because it's better to be healthy no matter the cost and if more people would buy the organic food then they would lower the price and many people could afford it.

Dr. Uwawuike: Industrial Organic Food Chain (Reflection)

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain? Why or why not?

I believe that the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain because the risks are very lethal. It is stated in the text "...so organic food sometimes tastes better." This shows a benefit of the industrial organic food chain, the organic food tastes better than industrial food because it is grown with little or no pesticides. It is stated in the text "The tiniest amount of this chemical (0.1 part per billion) has been shown to change the sex of frogs. There's been no study to show what it can do to children...Our bodies evolved to use those same compounds to protect us from disease." This shows two risks of the industrial organic food chain, it is proven that it change the gender of frogs then who knows what it can do to humans. Not only that but the more we continue to eat industrial organic food the more our bodies evolve to to use those compounds to protect us from diseases. However, if we stop eating industrial organic food then our bodies won't be able to adapt to the sudden change and won't know what other compounds to use to protect you from diseases. Therefore, although there are many benefits of the industrial organic food chain it doesn't compare to the lethal risks of the same food chain and the health of human beings.

Dr.simplice:industrail organic food chain

Base so far of what i have read the benifits of industrail organic far out weigh the risk of industrail organic.I say this thought out the passage of chapter 10-11 it talks about how organic is not organic but not so much on negatives of industrail organic. It states in the text"the cows are fed corn just like cows at poky, but their feed is organic"also stated"it is the fastest growing chicken ever, turning corn into meat faster, than any other bird".Both of these qoutes show the benifites of industrail organic first feeding cows corn is cheap and help people to save money second the faster the food grows the more money the farmers can get and the faster ee can get food to eat so we go on with the rest of the day

Dr . Zahzam ๐Ÿ˜

If you think about what we have read you would of saw how the risks outweigh the benefits because you would see how the farm treats their chickens because they aren't careful about their chickens because in the text it states " An infection could kill 20,000 birds overnight " pg 129 so that quote means how if they aren't carful and one bird gets an infection then all the birds could get it . The text also states " the birds grow so rapidly that their poor legs cannot keep up " This quote shows the living conditions of the chickens and once they fully grow they then get slaughtered .

Dr.Paulino :Industrial Organic Food Chain

Do the risks outweigh the benefits in the industrial organic food chain?

I believe that the benefits outweigh the risks in the industrial organic food chain. This is because the risks of the industrial organic food chain don't harm as much as the food chain helps. For example, a risk can be that this food chain still uses some type of industrial food chain resource; The farmers grow their crops for the industrial organic food chain in large farms, away from the people who eat it. A benefit can be that this food chain of organic foods don't cause cancer, don't damage your nerve cells, and don't disrupt your endocrine system, and is grown without any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. This benefit is informing us that industrial organic food chain foods is a lot healthier and better for people to be consuming. This benefit is also a stronger idea than just saying that as a risk they are grown in large farms like the industrial organic food chain.

Dr.Kone

The benefits outweigh risk of the industrial organic food chain.Meanwhile there is only one downturn in inorganic food chain is that it takes slot of time and energy. The benefits of industrial organic is that it use natural production and doesn't use chemicals to kill pest. This allows humans to grow strong and stay healthy. For example,"organic farming rules do not allow chemical weed killers, so Greenways has to use other methods to fight weeds." This is a safe way to get rid of weeds. This is how benefits outweigh risk organic food chain

Dr. Estevez: Short Response

Organic farming can help people in ways for food and to eat healthy but there are many downsides. There is pollution and environment dangers. "In it, she warned of the dangers of pesticides like DDT. Events in the news in 1969 also made people aware of the dangers of pollution." So if people continue to act and be like this they will regret it cause it can be lead to global warming. Then it also has one more risks that is not worth it. "If one get sick, they will all get sick. An infection could kill 20,000 birds overnight." If this continues to happen eventually birds can be extinct and if they get another animal then that animal may go extinct. It's an endless cycle. And who knows what that will lead to. All of this catastrophe just for healthy food. It's not worth it.
