Is it possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S.? Why or why not?
I don't think it is possible for the Hunter gather food chain to be practical in the U.S. because of the environment it takes place in and the difficulty of finding the vegetation. Most of the U.S. is like a "concrete jungle" and this specific food chain require the woods or out door senerio. Besides that for many people it might be difficult to find food. The text states, "L'd asked a bunch of other mushroom hunters to take me along. Some acted like I had asked to borrow their credit card. Other promised to call me Barack but never did. A few used the same old joke: 'I could show you where I get my mushroom, but then I'd have to kill you.'" Also stated, "Yet when, Angelo pointed to another spot under the same tree, a spot where he had seen mushroom, I was still blind... They'd be easy to spot if they weren't brown and black. As it was, they seemed to disappear against the forest floor...From above they were invisible. Of course was thick black mud..." The author seems to go back to this same topic over the pages of the seriousness of this food chain and how those who participated feel or react on sharing the food/location also that many people such as him self can't seem to find food: imagine how people who live of this chain feel. According to the text the Hunter gatherer food chain mainly takes place in the woods or private property and from maps seen and prior knowledge their are not many forest in the country that might make it harder for those who live of the food chain
