Dr. Uwawuike: Industrial Organic Food Chain (Reflection)

Do the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain? Why or why not?

I believe that the risks outweigh the benefits of the industrial organic food chain because the risks are very lethal. It is stated in the text "...so organic food sometimes tastes better." This shows a benefit of the industrial organic food chain, the organic food tastes better than industrial food because it is grown with little or no pesticides. It is stated in the text "The tiniest amount of this chemical (0.1 part per billion) has been shown to change the sex of frogs. There's been no study to show what it can do to children...Our bodies evolved to use those same compounds to protect us from disease." This shows two risks of the industrial organic food chain, it is proven that it change the gender of frogs then who knows what it can do to humans. Not only that but the more we continue to eat industrial organic food the more our bodies evolve to to use those compounds to protect us from diseases. However, if we stop eating industrial organic food then our bodies won't be able to adapt to the sudden change and won't know what other compounds to use to protect you from diseases. Therefore, although there are many benefits of the industrial organic food chain it doesn't compare to the lethal risks of the same food chain and the health of human beings.
