Dr. Uwawuike: Hunter-Gatherer

I do not think that it is possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because it takes place in woodsy areas and uses equipment that isn't casually allowed in some parts in the U.S. It is stated in the text "I had tried out my rifle...I take what I need, enough to make a nice dinner for me and my friends..." This quote shows why I think that the hunter gatherer food chain would be practical in the U.S, guns can not be casually used and given to everyone just for food. Also, everyone will just get enough for themselves and so what happens to those who can't use a gun or go hunting due to their circumstances? Will they not eat? It is also sated in the text "We drove for several hours and gradually climbed into the mountains of the Eldorado National Forest." This quote shows why I think that the hunter gatherer food chain would not be practical in the U.S, in order to gather you have to be in woodsy areas and not everyone lives near a forest or the woods. What happens to the people who line in a city? Will they not eat either? Therefore, I do not think that it is possible for the hunter gatherer food chain to be practical in the U.S because not everyone lives near a forest and countries can't just hand guns to everyone to hunt for food for themselves.
