Do the Risks Outweigh the Benefits of the Industrial Food Chain? Dr. Carty 802
In my opinion, I believe the benefits outweigh the risks of the Industrial organic food chain. For one, organic farms are not drowned in dozens and dozens of chemicals. "The important thing, he would argue, is that behind every organic TV dinner and chicken stands acres of land that will not be doused with chemicals." This obviously shows a benefit of Industrial Organic. Farms will no longer have to use harmful chemicals, like pesticides. This is a benefit because now humans do not have to worry about being sick because of chemicals. Another benefit is of course the matter of what's in the organic food themselves. "100% organic products contain only certified organic ingredients." This shows that the food is made with organic things that are healthy and not...unhealthy. One risk, or bad thing, about industrial organic is that the foods are very expensive! Pollan states that the chicken cost $15, the vegetables $12, and the dessert $7. That's very expensive and way more costly than another kind of food chain.
