What farmers are risking by using the nitrogen rich soil is harming the people that work in there and increasing global warming which harms the earth. In the text it states"But what happens to the eighty pounds of man-made nitrogen that naylors corn plants don't take up? Some of it evaporates into the air and where it creates acid rain.Some of it turns into nitrous oxide, a gas that increases global warming"(33). This helps me understand that the nitrogen rich soil they use actually harms the earth and may harm the people that work with it because of the chemicals it may contain.
I agree with you Dr.Gil, farmers are risking a lot in using nitrogen rich soil. If this nitrogen increases global warming and creates acid rain farmers should not use this soil.
