What are the benefits and risks of using Industrial food chain?
There are several benefits and various risks on industrial food chain but one of the main concerns of the risk is obesity and type 2 diabetes, but a much more positive turn was a surplus of food across America. The text states, "Three of every five Americans are overweight; one of every five is obese. Among kids it's just as bad. Seventy percent of kids ages six through nineteen are obese... To put it simply Americans are getting fatter and it's killing us."(76) Besides this on pg 76, "...Type 2 diabetes since it now occurs so frequently in Childers and the Centers for Disease Control estimates that one in three Americans children born in 2000 will develop it." These two pieces of evidence give in detail the high possibility of future generations getting Type 2 diabetes and becoming obese that can impact the human race. According to the text pgs 76-82 because o the industrial food chain humans are able to acquire food in large quantities and for a cheaper price cheaper, besides this it fully satisfies our sweet tooth and the amount of food we can sustain. This sets a positive impact of the industrial food chain of America and in your own neighborhood on a economic price for a satisfying portion.
