What was Pollan's purpose for introducing steer 534? How do you know?

Pollan's purpose for introducing steer 534 was to inform the readers of the process in which the industrial market uses on its livestock just to speed up the process of growth and development. Also shows how the animals are treated in such deplorable conditions in which they are stuffed with hazardous nutrition until their last breath. The author informs us that industries pump drugs, corn (which in many cases  is not in the diet of the livestock) liquefied fat, protein supplements, liquid vitamins, a goop of molasses and urea (urea contain nitrogen) just to speed up the time taken of natural orders of growth and development just to make money. What is done in the steps taken can produce several types of disease especially when the animal is feed from its own species.
