The industrial Food chain has mutiple negatives and positives.But It seems those positives do in fact our weight the negatives.Im not saying the industrial food chain is 100 percent "Good".But without it we wouldn't really now how to live our daily lives and get through a day.Micheal Pollan brings up that corn is basically the substance that makes up eveything we eat it feeds the animals and the animals make our food or well we make them our food.But all that aside,Corn is what is technically feeding us,and the reason so because it's cheap easy to grow and we can feed it to animals.If we didn't have this way of feeding animals with corn which is what most of the industrial food chain is we wouldn't be as well and ready for the next day.Besides the corn,the industrial food chain allows farmers to get there jobs done in almost half the time according to " Omnivore's Dilemma" and still make the same amount of money.A farmers job is already hard and there life expectancy is lower than most working people,but with the industrial food chain and how it's set up less work means farmers get more rest and it adds on.Even though the industrial food chain does allow us to buy food so cheap we might eat it times a day,it depends on the people buying not who is providing who ever abuses the industrial food chain has there own problems to deal with.
