Dr. Paulino: Industrial Organic

What are the risks and benefits of the industrial organic food chain?

     There are both risks and benefits about the industrial organic food chain. A risk of the industrial organic food chain is that it can cause a whole population of animals to die. In the text it states,"Since the birds receive no antibiotics and they are all genetically alike, if one gets sick, they will all get sick. An infection could kill 20,000 birds overnight,"(pg.129). If all the chicken get sick there will bee no chicken for us to buy. A benefit of the industrial organic food chain is that it doesn't cause cancer or other body system problems. In the text it states," Those chemicals have been proven to cause cancer, damage nerve cells, and disrupt your endocrine system-your hormones. These poisons are routinely found in non-organic produce and meat," (pg.133). This is a benefit of the industrial organic food chain because its saying that foods that aren't organic can cause people to have bad health.
